It was a big day for what's becoming a popular culinary staple in downtown Buffalo.

On Monday, a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Expo in the Market Arcade.

The space in the former Perfetto Restaurant on Main Street is an upscale dining hall with a number of restaurants, including a pasta bar, sandwich shop, sushi bar and even an oyster bar.

It's the first of its kind in Western New York.

"The Pan American Exposition was meant to celebrate some of Buffalo's greatest times, which are coming back," said Nick Sinatra, owner of Expo. "So with cars sharing Main Street, with the resurgence of Buffalo and downtown, I think this is a perfect time to open this artisan food hall."

Expo is open Monday through Friday until 9 p.m., and on Saturday until 8 p.m.
