It can be hard for new Western New Yorkers to figure out how to connect with key community resources and information.  But soon, there will be an app for that.

On Wednesday, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced that the "The Good Neighbor app", designed by Clark Dever and Jordan Walbesser, as the winner of the inaugural Civic Innovation Challenge – Powered by AT&T.

In March, the city challenged software developers and coders to use the city's new open data portal to help the community.

The Good Neighbor app uses that data to help users find everything from the nearest police station to details on where to vote.

The guys behind the app will split a $5,000 prize.

The app is set to go live in the coming months.
