Girl cut by pocket knife on Buffalo school bus, boy arrested

A sixth-grade boy has been arrested and charged following an incident on a Buffalo school bus in which a sixth-grade girl was cut on the hand Monday morning.

A spokesperson from Buffalo Public Schools tells 7 Eyewitness News the girl was cut with a pocket knife on bus #559, which carries students to School #27, Hillery Park Elementary, in the morning.

Police were called to the bus at Fillmore Avenue and Clinton Street just after 9 a.m.

According to police, the 12-year-old boy has been charged with assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon. He has been charged as a minor.

The girl was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo for treatment, where she was joined by her mother. The extent of her injury is unknown.
