Gatorade to pay $300K settlement for slamming water in mobile device game

Posted

Gatorade is in legal hot water.

The soft drink manufacturer must now pay the state of California $300,000 for a video game the state claims made misleading comments about water.

It comes from a game for mobile devices called "Bolt" that has instructions warning to "Keep your performance level high by avoiding water."

California's Attorney General says the statement violates consumer protection laws.

$120,000 of the settlement will go towards funding education about the importance of drinking water and proper nutrition.

Gatorade did not comment.
