Gas prices expected to rise nationally, remain steady in WNY

With increases predicted throughout the rest of August, WNYers will be pumped to see steady gas prices this week.

AAA Western and Central New York reported demand for gas will likely decline as families prepare for back-to-school.

The New York State average is $2.48 per gallon, almost no change from last week.

AAA Western and Central New York reported the following averages: 

  • Buffalo - $2.39 (up 1 cent)
  • Rochester - $2.42 (no change)
  • Rome - $2.42 (no change)
  • Syracuse - $2.39 (no change)

A year ago, the NYS average was $2.30.
