Gas prices continue to drop across Western New York, and AAA predicts that fall could continue through July.

According to AAA, the average cost for a gallon of gas in Buffalo is $2.40 a gallon, two cents lower than the New York State average.

The average price in Rochester is down a cent from a week ago, to $2.36 a gallon. Syracuse prices are averaging just $2.26.

AAA says gas prices have fallen for 24 straight days, and the average price on Independence Day was the lowest for the holiday since 2005.

While they predict gas prices will continue to fall throughout the month, they say further refinery issues, hurricanes, or "geopolitical tensions overseas" could reverse the trend.
