Gas prices considerably higher in Niagara County

The good news is, gas prices are falling, but they're still higher here in Western New York than anywhere else in the state.

Gas prices in Niagara Falls are of the highest we've seen in WNY. Gas stations in Niagara Falls started the day 20 cents higher than other gas stations in the region.

Our cameras were rolling as two gas stations lowered prices by 10 cents. The highest we saw all day in Niagara County was $3.19 per gallon

The only consistency is prices are falling and falling fast.

The Energy Department predicts if gas prices continue to drop, Americans will save an average of $100 billion over the course of a year.

"Right now it's about $10 less than I normally pay," said  Dan Furmanek. "Anything less is better."

Even though prices are lowering, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer is unhappy with how high Buffalo's prices are in comparison to other parts of the state.

Schumer and Congressmen Brian Higgins are calling on the Energy Information Administration to study the trend.
