Free, sober rides on NYE in Buffalo

A local attorney and Designated Drivers of Buffalo are teaming up again this New Year’s Eve to provide sober rides home to those who are out drinking.

Attorney William Mattar is holding his eighth annual Safe & Sober Free Ride Home Program. Between 12 a.m. until 4 a.m. on January 1, Designated Drivers of Buffalo will provide free rides to those out celebrating the new year.

Designated Drivers of Buffalo will send two uniformed drivers to your location. One will pick you up and the other will pick up your car and both will drive you home – not to another drinking location. William Mattar is picking up the tab for this service.

“We hope that people in the community will start the new year off right and make the smart decision by taking advantage of this great opportunity to keep the roads safe in Buffalo this holiday season,” Mattar said in a statement.

One caveat – rides must originate in the City of Buffalo and have a maximum drop-off distance of 20 miles.

If you need a ride on New Year’s Eve, call Designated Drivers of Buffalo at 716-202-2222.

It is recommended that you call at least one hour in advance. Due to high call volumes, it is not guaranteed that every caller will be able to get a ride.
