A now former Niagara Falls police officer has dodged a jail cell after beating a man unconscious with his motorcycle helmet. This incident happened last September in the Town of Wheatfield.
During his sentencing Tuesday night, James Conte received a conditional discharge, as well as 50 hours of community service and a $250 fine.
The 20-year veteran of the force was placed on administrative leave following the road rage incident. His lawyer says Conte decided not to return to the department.
