Former Holy Angels Academy principal dies

Former principal of Holy Angels Academy and professor at D'Youville College, Sister Mary Kathleen Duggan, has passed away.

Sister Mary Kathleen died on November 15th at the age of 90. 

She graduated from North Tonawanda High School and earned a BA from D'Youville College. She also received a PhD in English and MA in English Language and Literature from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Sister Mary Kathleen taught English and Latin at Holy Angels Academy for two years prior to entering Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart in 1949. She served as assistant principal in 1981 and principal starting in 1983.

Sister Mary Kathleen also worked as an archivist at D'Youville College.

The viewing will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 18th, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Provincialate of the Holy Redeemer Sisters, 541 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19116-1188.
