A former bookkeeper at an Amherst doctor's office admitted to stealing $500,000 from the practice.
District Attorney John Flynn says Justine Smith, 56, pleaded guilty to grand larceny, falsifying business records and offering a false instrument for filing.
According to the DA, Smith stole half a million dollars from the office of Dr. Samuel Shatkin by falsifying the business financial records.
Smith says she suffers from a compulsive buying disorder, according to officials.
Smith faces up to 15 years in prison.
