Flag flies for Breast Cancer awareness

Posted

A pink flag now waves proudly outside the Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville.

The flag is covered in signatures from patients and staff, all of whom, have been impacted by Breast Cancer.

"I was personally affected by Breast Cancer 3 years ago, so I'm almost a three year survivor, so personally it has affected me and a lot of people that I know" said Annie Spano, a registered nurse and director of subacute care at the facility.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Early detection is key, and doctors and advocates are reminding women to schedule that mammogram and perform regular self-checks.
