The first female-to-male sexual transmission of the Zika virus infection has been reported in New York City.
This is the first documented case of sexual transmission of Zika from a woman to her sex partner. All previously reported cases of sexually transmitted Zika virus infections have been spread from men to their sex partners.
The CDC recommends all pregnant woman use Zika barrier methods every time they have sex if their partner has traveled to or lives in an area with Zika.
The CDC says it is currently updating recommendations for sexually active people in which the couple is not pregnant or concerned about pregnancy.
