Western New York is welcoming its' first baby born in the new year.

Kaira Bargotya Kaur was born at 12:01 a.m. at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

Bulbul Bargotya gave birth to a 7.5 pound baby girl.

Kaira's parents, Bulbul and Sonney, say their first born was due December 27th.

Bulbul says the name Kaira has different meanings, in the Hindu culture it means beautiful and nice.

"Both of our names are unique so we wanted our first daughter to have something unique, so that's why we chose Kaira," Bulbul said.

Bulbul and Sonney are from from India and have been back and fourth to Buffalo since 2005 and now they say they're here for good.

Stacy Andries, Interim Nurse Manager, presented a special care package from Fisher Price, valued at $500, for having the first baby of 2018 in Western New York.
