Authorities have charged a mother of three after she allegedly became intoxicated and fell asleep while cooking food inside the home's kitchen stove.

Kirstin M. Kelly is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, and child endangerment. Left unattended, authorities say the food overcooked and started a large fire that eventually consumed her family's entire mobile home.

The fire inside the house-trailer at 1021 Olean Road began about 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Kelly, 28, and her three children, ages 5, 4, and 1 month, were inside at the time and all were rescued by a neighbor who reportedly discovered the fire.

The children were taken to Mercy Hospital Buffalo for smoke inhalation while the mom went to ECMC for smoke inhalation and other non-life-threatening injuries. All have been released.

After a police investigation, Kelly was arraigned in Aurora Town Court and taken to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1000 bail. She is scheduled to reappear in Aurora Town Court next week and faces up to a year in jail.

Erie County CPS has joined the investigation into this incident.

The children are currently staying with family members.
