October 7th marks the start of Fire Prevention Week.
The National Fire Protection Association says the week is meant to educate on how to stay safe and prevent a fire.
The association says there are three ways you can prepare now.
-Identify places where a fire could start.
-Listen for your smoke alarms.
-Always know two ways to escape out of a room
According to the association, 71% of Americans have an escape plan in case of a fire, but only 47% of them have practiced it.
You can find out more on the association's website.
