The Lockport Fire Department says an electrical problem in an upstairs hallway sparked a fire inside the old St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church school Monday morning on Walnut Street.
Smoke was pouring from second-floor windows when firefighters arrived around 10 a.m.
Fire crews were quickly able to get the fire under control. No one was hurt.
The building now serves as the Lockport campus for The Chapel.
Damage to the building and contents is estimated at $70,000.
