As part of the KeyBank and First Niagara Merger, Northwest Bank has acquired 18 First Niagara branches.

This week soon-to-be Northwest customers are in the final stretch of the banks’ transition.

“We anticipate 95,000 First Niagara customers will come to Northwest as of this weekend,” Communications Manager for Northwest Bank told 7 Eyewitness News.

The communications manager says customers making the transition from First Niagara to Northwest should have already received a welcome packet and should have new checks, account numbers and debit cards by September 10.

To ensure everything from the computer systems to the letterhead is ready for a September 12 relaunch date, the company is closing the transitioning locations at the end of the day September 9.

“The 18 first Niagara branches converting will be closed from 3 p.m. September 9 through 9 a.m. September 12.

The communications manager says at this time those customers will also not have access to online and mobile but she says customers will have access to Northwest reps over the telephone. Customers with concerns can also stop by any transitioning branch or existing branch for assistance.

According to this site, established for the customers making the switch from First Niagara to KeyBank, that transition is set to begin in the first week of October.
