“From this day forward, for better or for worse.”

Those special words, mark the beginning of a lifelong bond.

For Eleena and Adam Mills, their lifelong bond began a few weeks earlier than planned, and on the opposite side of the country.

They still have a wedding planned in Joshua Tree National Park outside of Los Angles at the end of September. But their impromptu Buffalo wedding came about after one phone call.

“Last month we get a call from my mom saying that they think my dad has cancer,” said Eleena Mills. She says her father has stage four cancer.

“There's an artery that's surrounded by cancer. Which can make his heart stop at any minute. Which means he can't fly,” added Mills.

That means a California wedding would have to be without her father.

Some quick thinking, and a lot of help from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute led to a wedding in front of the building.

Angel Burgos, Mills father, only had to travel down an elevator to walk side-by-side with his daughter and hand her away.

This wasn't just a show for Angel. Eleena and Adam are now legally wed. The wedding was complete with vows, cake, and a father-daughter dance this family will never forget.

“At least I had the opportunity to dance with her and giver her away,” said Burgos.

“In sickness and in health.”

Those words. They are special and for this family, those words are already being put to the test.
