New church service offered to Bills fans on game day

Sundays in Buffalo sometimes mean choosing between going to a football game and going to church. But, for at least one Sunday this year, Bills fans won't have to make that choice.

A nondenominational Christian service is scheduled to take place in the AdPro Sports Training Center before the Bills play the Dolphins on December 17.

Church at the Game starts at 9:45 a.m. and should last about an hour. Everyone is invited to attend and several former Bills stars are expected to be at the service, including Jim Kelly.

The only other NFL city that hosts a pregame worship like this is Kansas City.

William Hein helped organize the service, which is affiliated with Kingdom Bound, and said the Bills might allow for more Church at the Game services next season.

"This is kind of a test," he explained. "We've been told that if it is positive, if there is positive feedback, next year we could possibly have a few more."

No donations or offerings will be requested during the service and, because it is outside New Era Field, no game ticket is needed to get in.

The service will take place in the same building as all the "Fan Zone" activities.
