Family members say Lackawanna man "died a hero"

A family member says a Lackawanna man "died a hero" after being attacked inside his home on Johnson Street early Tuesday morning.

An aunt of 23-year-old Robert Wheeler says the intruder entered the home around 2am and that Wheeler died protecting his family.

According to Lackawanna Police, Wheeler was stabbed more than 20 times. A suspect in the murder was taken to the hospital after the attack.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Wheeler's funeral expenses.
