A local family now has a home just in time for the holidays. The Lagun family received a brand new home, courtesy of the Habitat for Humanity program.

The mother, father and their two children have been working alongside volunteers to complete the home on Rhode Island St. in Buffalo.

They're originally from Bhutan, and father Nayan Lagun says he spent almost 20 years in a refugee camp before coming to America. He says he never imagined he'd be so lucky as to have a house in the U.S.

"To get a home, to settle here in America is kind of like a dream," he said. "My wife and my kids are so excited, because they have a house."

The family now takes over the mortgage payments for the home.

They're hoping to move in before Christmas.
