Garbage fire spread to home, deemed suspicious

Niagara Falls fire investigators looking into fire they're calling suspicious.

The fire started on Whitney Avenue about 11:30 Sunday night. The blaze forced five people from their home. Two adults and three children are now being helped by the Red Cross.

Dispatchers say the fire started in a garbage tote outside the home. Firefighters believe someone put it up to the side of the house, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

Crews are now trying to figure out who is responsible for this suspicious fire.

No one was hurt.
