Come fall, more than 500 Buffalo Police Patrol Officers will be wearing body cameras.

This summer, the department is testing out two different camera providers during two 60 day trials. The feedback from the trials will be presented to the Police Commissioner and Mayor.

"I like the technology and think it will be beneficial for our officers," said Captain Jeff Rinaldo. "It helps to make cases more solid, and mitigate a lot of complaints that come in against the police."

The company BPD is testing now is called Axon, and the cameras capture video up to 30 seconds before  police officers actually hit the record button.

The department says it still has some kinks to work out.
