Citing a lack of oversight leading to several instances of school bus assaults and injuries, Erie County Legislator Patrick Burke (D-7th District) introduced the Erie County School Bus Safety Law.

The law would work to provide oversight on buses servicing students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

"I’m a parent of three children so I understand the concern others feel about leaving their children unattended on a school bus. The cases of sexual assault last year and the tragedy that happened recently in Springville are an unfortunate reminder that there isn’t enough being done to keep our children from harm.” said ?Burke?.

This law is intended create a safe environment for children as they travel to and from school.
