Erie County legislators voted late Thursday to prohibit adults from smoking with anyone under the age of 18 in the car.

It is a three part law that includes a ban on smoking near NFTA bus shelters and the sale of tobacco products at pharmacies.

Those caught while smoking with children in the car or near bus shelters will be fined $50 for the first offense.

This includes any type of e-cigarette as well.

The new law will go into effect once it is filed with the New York State Secretary of State, which normally takes a few months.
