According to Legislator Lynne Dixon (R-District 9), harassment case settlements cost tax payers thousands of dollars.

"Just last week the state came out saying that $10 million was pend in recent years on settlements of this nature."

Dixon and a few other Erie County Legislator's proposed during a meeting on Thursday changes to the County's harassment policy that would not allow harassment settlements to be paid with tax payer dollars.

"To give them (officials accused of harassment) any type of protection, in my mind, is just wrong and unfair."

Dixon's proposal was rejected during the session on a vote of 3-2. The Legislature did decide to bring the subject back up for consideration in the upcoming weeks.
