The Dunkirk Police Department arrested two people on drug possession charges while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in a city park Tuesday morning.

Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, a patrol officer on a routine check of Wright Park noticed a vehicle parked after the park had closed. The officer reported the man and woman inside the vehicle were acting nervously. The female passenger initially provided a false identity, but eventually gave her real name.

A search of the name by assisting officers revealed Amber Harrison, 39, of Dunkirk, was wanted on two bench warrants in the City of Dunkirk for failing to appear for court on a petit larceny charge. Officers discovered a makeshift craft pipe in the vehicle as they were arresting Harrison.

The driver, 52-year-old Darryl Devore of Irving, was removed and officers searched the vehicle. Inside, they found a package containing crack cocaine. A search of Devore uncovered two more packages of the drug inside his socks.

Amber Harrison was charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of failure to appear on the petit larceny charge.

Darryl Devore was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, including one misdemeanor and two felonies.

Both suspects were taken into custody and held without bail until arraignment.
