Drought causes voluntary water restrictions

Residents in the Village of Alden are being asked to reduce their water use due to drought conditions.

The Village of Alden Water Department has asked their customers to partake in a voluntary water restriction.

The water department is asking people to only water lawns, plants and gardens in the early morning or late evening to minimize evaporation, and to only water two times per week. They also ask to minimize washing cars, monitor plumbing for leaks and repair or isolate them quickly.

Indoor water use can be conserved by only washing full loads in washing machines and dishwashers.

By asking for a voluntary water restriction, the water department hopes to avoid mandatory restrictions in the Village of Alden in the future.
