BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Friday's snow couldn't stop dozens of runners from joining a 2.23 mile run in solidarity with Ahmaud Arbery at Delaware Park. The distance represents the day that he died: February 23rd. Today's significance is that it would've been Arbery's 26th birthday.

"The response has been overwhelming," runner and organizer Jamil Crews said. "We put the call out for people to meet me over here. You know, we just wanted to do something to commemorate what would've been Ahmaud's 26th birthday."

In addition to today being Arbery's birthday, arrests relating to his death were made in Georgia on Thursday. The combination has brought his story to light.

"This is a time for us to say no. We're going to stop this on day one before it happens," runner Kendra Brim said. "That could've been anybody. It could've been my brother, my father, my cousin. So we came out specifically for solidarity."

#RunWithMaud will continue for the rest of the weekend. You can find a website with a petition and more information here.
