The man investigators say opened fire at a Cheektowaga Dollar General store is now facing assault charges for an incident in jail.

In November of last year, Prosecutors say 29-year-old Travis Green wrapped his bed sheet around his cell bars to prevent it from being opened. While a sheriff's deputy attempted to remove the sheet, Green allegedly punched the deputy through the gate.

The deputy was reportedly struck in the eye and treated at ECMC for his injury.

Green was arraigned Monday on one count of Assault. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
