A firefighter was injured and a dog died in a fire Tuesday afternoon at a home in Cheektowaga.
A woman saw thick, black smoke coming from the home on Wellsworth Avenue around 1 p.m. and called 911. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene.
No one was home at the time of the fire except for a pet dog, which was killed. A firefighter suffered minor, unknown injuries and was taken to the hospital.
There's no word on how much damage the fire caused.
A neighbor says the home had recently had a lot of work done but there's no word on what caused the fire.
