The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is trying to return a gravestone to its proper resting space.
The stone, which is now in the possession of deputies, reads "Cyntha - Wife of ALMON HOFFMAN. DIED Dec. 12 1849."
The sheriff's office is not saying where it found the stone.
Anyone with information is asked to call investigator John Wick at 438-3342.
