Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz held his third public forum on Tuesday to show how school consolidation could save tax payers money.

According to the County Executive combining the five big school districts in Cheektowaga would save an estimated $1.2 million.

"You don't have to have eight school districts that service the entire town in Cheektowaga." Executive Poloncarz said, "Maybe you have seven, maybe you have six, maybe you merge all the five major ones."

The point of the sessions is to show the public what could be done, as the County Executive cannot actually consolidate. The consolidation is up to the individual school boards.
