Violent and destructive weather has forced the Niagara County Courthouse campus to close indefinitely.  According to leaders, Wednesday's fierce winds has knocked out power or telephone service to several county office buildings.

Impacted by the closure are the Niagara County Courthouse on Hawley Street in Lockport, the Civil Defense Building on Niagara Street and several nearby offices.  Employees are being told to NOT report to work.

These closures impact the following agencies:

    County Attorney
    County Clerk
    Commissioner of Jurors
    Courtrooms
    District Attorney
    Legislature Clerk
    Historian
    Public Defender
    Pistol Permit

County leaders say the closures will remain in effect until further notice.

Other government services in Lockport are still up and running. This includes the DMV, the Board of Elections, Social Services and the Office for the Aging.
