Not much is going on here at 998 Broadway Street on Buffalo’s Eastside. But several Buffalo design organizations hope to breathe new life into it.

Yes In My Back Yard Buffalo, Designing to Live Sustainably, Design Buffalo, and Cedarland Development are sponsoring a design workshop and contest.

A contest giving the community the chance to come up with the best ideas for what 998 Broadway should be.

Back in its heyday the Buffalo Eastside neighborhood was a hustle and bustle area in Buffalo. 998 was the home to Sattler’s Department Store. The store closed and a portion of the property became a K-Mart. Now the building is vacant.

Organizers of the contest hope this will give developers some ideas about what the community wants and needs.

People who are interested in submitting design ideas for 998 have to attend a free workshop on Saturday, September 15, 2018, from noon to 3pm, at 998 Broadway Street.
