A 911 call just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning sent Niagara County Sheriff's deputies to an elderly woman's home following a home invasion.

The 96-year-old woman told deputies she heard a knocking on her windows at 102nd Street in the Town of Wheatfield and got out of bed to see what it was. When she entered the living room she was confronted by a male suspect who grabbed her, pushed her and demanded money, according to officials.

The Sheriff's Office says the suspect ransacked a portion of the house, taking cash and some electronics. He also took her keys from the kitchen table and took her car from the garage, according to deputies.

Deputies later found the woman's car in the City of Niagara Falls after it had been burned.

The elderly victim was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for minor injuries.

The investigation is still on going. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Investigator Thompson during normal business hours at 438-3332 or Sheriff Dispatch during off hours at 438-3393.
