A driver and his passenger were taken into custody just after midnight December 31 when deputies found cocaine in the car.

Erie County Sheriff's Office says Daniel Lang, 22, was stopped on Main Street in the Town of Clarence for vehicle and traffic violations. Deputies found the Lang's license was suspended and took him into custody.

During the arrest, the deputy says he saw a bag of white powder on floor of the car. A test of the substance came back positive for cocaine and the passenger was also taken into custody.

Deputies say Lang was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, and vehicle and traffic violations.

Lang's passenger, Michael Sweeny, 29, was on probation for drug possession, according to officials. He was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of cocaine.

Authorities say both men were taken to the Erie County Holding Center and released after posting bail.
