The Depew Police Department released this public awareness announcement:

On Thursday, December 7th at around 9:00 a.m., Depew Middle School contacted Depew Police to report a female student's encounter with a white male driving an unknown white pickup truck.

The student reported she was walking on Zurbrick Road toward Depew Middle School when a man in a white pickup truck asked if the student had seen his loose dog running in the area.

The student ignored the driver and continued walking to school, and the man drove off in an unknown direction.

Police say the white male appeared to be in his 40s or early 50s with a scruffy beard, driving possibly a white Ford pickup truck with black rims.

The Depew Police Department later conducted a search of the area, but did not find the white pickup truck.

According to police, the male driver did not ask the student to get in the vehicle nor attempt to physically control the student.

Again, this was a public awareness announcement.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or the male driver is asked to call the Depew Police Department at (716) 683-1123.
