A 31-year-old Lancaster man is facing charges after a deadly collision at the intersection of Bullis and Girdle Roads in Elma.

The collision happened Wednesday night shortly after 10. Accident investigators were on scene reconstructing the collision into the overnight hours Thursday and the roadway remained closed until late Thursday morning.

Authorities say three vehicles were involved and the 60-year-old driver of one vehicle was killed. The driver and passenger of a third vehicle were examined by medical personnel at the scene and released.

It was the driver of the third vehicle, 31-year-old John Zakrewski, who was arrested and charged with DWI and felony second degree vehicular manslaughter. Zakrewski, who was not injured in the crash, is being held in the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment Thursday night.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
