Governor Cuomo is about to sign into law a bill that will allow workers to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave from work to care for a newborn or a sick loved one.

The bill recently passed in the New York State Assembly. Other states have similar laws that give family members 12 weeks on paid leave, including California, Rhode Island and New Jersey.

The most an employee would be able to receive in benefits a week is capped off at $633.

The New York State Legislation also recently passed a bill that would raise the minimum wage up to $15.
