Buffalo Police are investigating an officer-involved car crash.
Investigators say a Buffalo Police vehicle was responding to a 911 call around 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. The officer was driving west on Dodge Street when it collided with a 2005 Jeep that was driving north on Roehrer Avenue.
Two Buffalo men were walking around the corner when they saw the crash and ran to help, pulling the child passengers out of the Jeep.
"Once we saw the kids we both just kind of took over and went into parent mode," said Matthew Freeman. "We both have kids. I have a three-year-old at home, and they're our life. So we know what it's like."
Police say the three passengers in the Jeep and the officer were transported to local hospitals. All are expected to be ok.
Freeman says seeing the crash up-close reminded him just how suddenly accidents can happen, and parents need to be prepared for the worst by making sure their kids are buckled up.
"Every kid should be in a seat, a booster seat, or a proper restraint for their age and weight, Freeman said."
No charges have been filed.
