The Lockport Bypass remains closed, several hours after Mercy Flight responded to a deadly head-on crash.
New York State Police say two cars collided around 10:40 this morning.
It took rescuers more than 30 minutes to free the victims - two female drivers - from both cars. They were still conscious at the time.
The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Peggy Ray of Niagara Falls.
The other driver, 56-year-old Kelly Campbell of Lockport, is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
There are no criminal charges being filed at this time.
