The New York State Police at Fredonia are investigating a motorcycle crash on State Route 20 in the Chautauqua County Town of Ripley.
It happened Sunday night just after 9pm.
Police tell say a motorcycle operated by a 45 year old Westfield man passed his marked patrol vehicle on a double solid line at a high rate of speed, and then subsequently failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway, striking a guardrail.
The operator was thrown from his motorcycle and came to rest in a field adjacent to the roadway.
He was flown to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio where he is listed in critical condition.
