Two kids hurt when mom falls asleep at wheel

A mother and her two young children are hospitalized following a one car crash in Niagara County.

The driver, 27-year-old Amanda Kamae, told police she briefly fell asleep behind the wheel along Route 31 in the Town of Royalton. Her car then veered off the road, struck a culvert, and rolled over.

Kamae was taken to the hospital for chest injuries. Her 6-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter were airlifted to Women and Children's Hospital with various injuries.

Charges in this case are pending right now.
