The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is warning the public about several counterfeit bills that are being passed around businesses in the Lockport and Newfane area.

Deputies say the money is generally $50 and $100 bills in U.S. currency. The bills have Chinese writing on the front and back.

According to officials, the suspect persons buy the counterfeit bills online which look very similar to U.S. currency.

Any information about the fraudulent bills is asked to be reported to the Criminal Investigation Bureau to Investigator Brett Thompson of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office at 438-3332 during business hours. Tips can also be called in 24/7 to 438-3393 or emailed at brett.thompson@niagaracounty.com.
