Could gas hit $3/Gallon? Experts say possibly

Posted

The New York State Association of Service Stations & Repair Shops tells 7 Eyewitness News that gasoline has gone up 60 cents per gallon in parts of New York.

As of Thursday afternoon, some stations in the Buffalo area were selling gas at $2.84/gallon.

The big question now is will gas reach $3/gallon or more in the near future?

7 Eyewitness Reporter Ed Reilly found that it could thanks to refinery disruptions caused by Hurricane Harvey and panic buying by consumers fearing there might be a gasoline shortage.

There are also fears that gas prices will be driven up by another round of panic buying due to Hurricane Irma that is heading for Florida.
