BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Western New York is still dealing with the highest COVID-19 positivity rate in the state.
It's a big concern for local health officials as we head into Thanksgiving week.
The current seven day rolling average in the Erie County orange zone is 7.25%.
That's unchanged from yesterday.
The news is marginally better in Erie County's yellow zone, where the infection rate dropped slightly to 7.4%, but Governor Cuomo says these aren't the only numbers we should pay attention to.
Right now Lancaster has the single highest COVID rate in the state at 9%.
Governor Cuomo says these days it's more important to be aware of your individual community's positivity rate.
The governor indicated other parts of the state may change what zone they are in this week, but he did not specify as to whether Erie County is heading for a red zone designation.
