The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration has announced a $61.3 million grant award to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

This grant will fund the Buffalo-Niagara region’s Metro Bus and Metro Rail operational costs from February 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.

“This historic $25 billion in grant funding will ensure our nation’s public transportation systems can continue to provide services to the millions of Americans who continue to depend on them,” said Elaine Chao, U.S. Transportation Secretary.
