HAMILTON, O.N. (WKBW) — Police in Hamilton, Ontario are not playing around when it comes to a fake doctor's note that a teen allegedly used to get out of work.
Officers say the unnamed 18-year-old woman gave a falsified doctor's note to her employer, a McDonald's restaurant on Rymal Road, that claimed the teen had tested positive for COVID-19. The restaurant immediately closed the restaurant and sent all other employees home to self-isolate on March 19th.
The restaurant was closed for several days to be deep-cleaned and sanitized. Following an investigation, police say the note was determined to be fraudulent and the teen was charged with fraud and mischief as the incident cost the restaurant and other employees "significant" financial impact.
The teen is expected to appear in court on May, 18th.
